Muslim Swimwear…Oxymoron

Feature Box, Humor, Misc, News — By LeslieRae on January 5, 2010 at 7:27 pm

There is a press release out concerning a new line of Muslim swimwear…I can hardly contain myself. The press release reports, ”Padilla with their new innovation and trendy style, has created Padilla Muslim swimwear which allows Muslim women to swim comfortably with proper swimsuit.” Really? How could ANYONE swim comfortably in all that nonsense?

Haha funny…and the Afghani Muslim women aren’t even allowed to show their face..they’d have to wear the burqa over that..lol

The nonsense is the closed mind that people have as it relates to something that is not “your” norm. It has been a long time coming that muslim women have been waiting to be able to get a swimsuit that will still allow her to cover and not be naked in the mainstream “bikini” or “full coverage” suits. Muslims like to swim just as much as others. Just because it does interest you does not mean that others won’t be interested in this suit. Funny, surfers wear something very similar yet you have nothing to say about the suits that they wear for their protection and this suit is viewed as a “protection” as well for muslim women allowing us the same access to water sports as anyone else. Maybe you should close your mouth more to what is unfamiliar and open your mind to things that some people may view as something great. @ Tonia, not all women are in the same situation as the Afghani women are and are able to show their faces, hands and feet. It is funny to me how the ignorance of people allows them to open their mouths without any regard to others and their feelings. If you think before you speak, you may not get as many chuckles, but trust me you will come off a lot more intelligent

Oh and by the way “Muslim Swimwear” is not an oxymoron. An oxymoron is a rhetorical device in which two seemingly contradictory words are used together for effect. Those two words together creates no effect.
