Over at Muscular Development, the following question was posed:

Is Iris Kyle bad for woman’s bodybuilding?

The primary complaints about Iris Kyle is that she’s too big, and not feminine enough to be Ms. Olympia. Here are several of the responses:

“She’s bad for the sport, but what are you going to do? Ban her for being too muscular?”

“Iris is Ms. Olympia because she’s the best bodybuilder.”

“With a girl like Cathy LeFrancois out there why not go for a more feminine look?”

The conversation remained fairly tame, until a female poster by the name of sadie7879 responded with the following:

So what about the men? The men look like cartoon characters… they are grossly out of proportion for the typical male form. We should outlaw drugs in general? That’s why there are natural shows. Go to those if that is your preference. Just as some of you guys do not appreciate muscular women, I assure you that most of the female population do NOT appreciate the amount of muscle on male pros either…so they don’t go to shows. I suggest that if the women bother you, you go to the f**kin bathroom or something while they are on stage.

Hypocritical double standard BS all over this thread.

I LOOOVE the women’s bodybuilding! The only thing I don’t like is the big clits LOL.. that’s a little too penis-like for me. Small clitted large muscled women would be awesome.

No, commercializarion is bad for bodybuilding. It was never meant to appeal to the lowest common denominator like Madison Ave schtick. I do think it’ll be more widely appreciated in the future, but there’s another strange wave of conformity in the American tide pool. Maybe the next generation will understand “huggin on a big monkey man” (or woman).

What’s not to like about Iris or Cathy? Judging from the two pics they’re both really buff and sexy the main difference is Cathy’s fake rack which doesn’t really enhance the female physique. Look at Annie or Dena for how sexy a fbb can be w/o out of proportion boobs. They look even more ridiculous on the so-called Ripped Princess who the judges refuse to score highly due to her out of control and out of proportion muscularity; preferring smaller perfectly groomed hotties like Kristy Hawkins and Heather Armbrust. The symmetry excuse has been the favorite of judges looking to take the size and skill elements of bodybuilding out of the “sport.” This ploy is a joke since everyone knows bb is NOT a sport and I’ve rarely seen a bb who’s much of an athlete as at the elite level of sport since excess mass that isn’t used to propel the ball or your body is generally a hindrance.

People should be ashamed for wanting to ban Iris, she is a great champion and so sexy too. Cathy looks great as well. I like bigger women, and Iris is just right. Not huge, but big, athletic and strong.
If the IFBB plans to have leaner women, they might as well ban female bodybuilding.

I think both women are equally muscular and attractive. I really don’t get the argument for Cathy LeFrancois being more feminine. Looking at their faces in the above image, I think iris has a more feminine face.

Isn’t the point of bodybuilding about developing muscles? Today’s IFBB Fiitness and Figure competitors look like the female bodybuilders of decades past. But that progressiveness is endemic of other sports. Athletes keep raising the bar as they compete to become better and better.

iris kyle and cathy le francois two sexy woman.

  • CJ says:

    Don’t get it.

Isn’t it a bodybuilding contest? Therefore it’s about muscle.

If it was about femininity, none of these women would win, because it would be a Miss World (and whatever else) contest.

So what kinda of a stupid argument is that?

It’s the same all over again, as happened when the Williams sisters took the tennis world by storm. They set the bar “too” high, it was unfair, because they were/ are so strong and powerful. It didn’t give the more “feminine”, delicate players like Sharapova a chance. Boohoo.

Like I said, either the criteria for winning is to do with the sport in which you’re competing or if your want to judge women by femininity or only allow “pretty” women to win, go to a beauty pageant.

I think this is doubly crazy, as I thought female bodybuilding would be more progressive, it being about muscle and women. Seems like there is just as much sexism there as anywhere else. What’s the point?
