Phyllis Francis, soon to be graduate of Catherine McAuley High School in Brooklyn, NY, has just signed a letter of intent to attend the the University of Oregon next fall. Phyllis is a long-legged middle distance runner who has become one of the nation’s premier 800-meter runners.

The New York Daily News reports, “She ran the nation’s third-best high school 800 time this season during the Hispanic Games in December, and her 1:32.14 600-meter clocking during the Stanner Games is the country’s top 600-meter performance this season.”

“The Olympics used to be a dream,” Phyllis said. “Now, I realize I have a chance.”
