MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Ernestine Shepherd was named the Oldest Female Body Builder by The Guinness Book of World Records back in 2010 and 2011.

But according to reports, Shepherd didn’t event start working out until she was in her late fifties.

Her story started like any other.

She and her sister, Mildred, were trying on swimsuits and weren’t happy with what they saw in the mirror.

It was then that the sisters decided to become two of the oldest female bodybuilders together.

But then tragedy struck.

Her sister died leaving a devastated Shepherd with high blood pressure, panic attacks and depression.

That is until one night when Shepherd had a dream about her sister who urged her to follow through with their dream.

She did and was eventually declared the World’s Oldest Performing Female Bodybuilder.

Though the 77-year-old doesn’t hold the title anymore, this self-proclaimed die-hard “Rocky” fan, still spends most of her day running, lifting weights and working out according to her official website.

Another thing she should add to her resume: an inspiration to thousands.

Now thanks to Sisters-In-Motion, a local fitness group that meets weekly to fellowship and exercise, Shepherd is going to be in the Bluff City this weekend!

The program will be on Saturday, June 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the City University School.

According to the event page, you’ll get to participate in a workout experience lead by the exercise queen, hear about her experiences, and take advantage of several vendors on site who can help with your healthy fitness journey.
