Tsvetana Pironkova, 22-years-old, went into the Wimbledon unseeded, practically a nobody. She went into the Wimbledon with a mission, to play and to win. She found herself in the quarterfinal against Venus Williams, the five-time women’s champion. Last year, Venus was in the finals against her sister, and lost. This year Venus was ranked second. Her win over Tsvetana should have been easy. But, at the end of the match it was Tsvetana who won easy (6-2, 6-3) and is moving on to the semi’s.
Tsvetana is a Bulgarian tennis professional. Her highest ranking was two years ago when she was ranked 40th, but that could be making a drastic change with the way she has been playing. See the win against Venus below; it is history in the making!
