I must have come along 10-15 years too late. In my times, Vera Christiansen and Abby Pudgy Stockton were the rare icons of women’s fitness – so was Joe Nista’s daughter, Sandy Nista – now at close to 60 strikingly the same. Otherwise women of those days were what we called creampuffs. For us hard training young men, we passionately sought out girls like that in a world disempowering feminine expression.
