British Tabloid Answers Question: Why am I attracted to bodybuilders?

ZM

London Mirror advice columnist Coleen Nolan recently took on this question”

“Dear Coleen,

I have a problem that might seem trivial, but it is depressing me. I have always been attracted to athletic, sporty women, but recently my tastes have become extreme, to the point where I only like female bodybuilders.

I realise I’m not alone and there are websites devoted to fans of female muscle, but extremely muscular women are not in abundance, and my chances of finding a partner I fancy are small. How can I stop myself fancing these types of women?

Arnold and the History of Female Bodybuilding

In a post this week titled “A BRIEF HISTORY OF WOMEN’S BODYBUILDING“, the author remninds us of the ground breaking support given by Arnold Schwarzenegger many, many years ago. Arnold wrote:

““Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but in my view, women have the same skeletal muscles as men and should be free to develop them as they wish,” Arnold Schwarzenegger writes in The New Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding. “We live in a time in which women are becoming involved in all manner of activities and professions that were once denied to them. I am happy to see women overcoming the artificial barriers that have limited them in the past.”

I always wanted to be an “exotic dancer” and thought I would give it
a try. Some would think this was a strange profession choice, but I have
always been a little “different:)

In 1998 I won the Ms Nude BC title I travelled all over Canada as a Feature Exotic Dancer. I absolutely
loved dancing, but at times I would be denied work because I had too much muscle!

I “intimidated” the guys. That was the only downfall of dancing. I had been bodybuilding for 8 years when my dancing career came to an end and my bodybuilding career started.  I received a call from Denise Masino, IFBB Pro and Editor of “Muscle Elegance Magazine*.” She wanted me to shoot for her magazine at a location in the Bahamas! I dieted for the first time ever and Denise was very pleased when I showed up for
the shoot! I was thrilled!!! She was the one who told me that I should compete. I did that two months later and won the overall at my first competition. I then did the BC Provincials and won the overall in that as well!!!

IFBB Fitness Pro Jodi Boam has been a gymnast for half of her life. She placed fifth in her IFBB pro debut and has the potential to be a top contender in every show she enters. She became the youngest IFBB Fitness Pro in Canada at age 23. Jodi was kind enough to share a bit more about herself days out from her first pro show on her homeland of Canada.

Look for her to make some noise this weekend at the Toronto Supershow and don’t be surprised if you see her competing on the Olympia stage this September. She has a fun personality and a killer set of arms. Read about her work out split, cooking dos and don’ts and why she’s a bad driver, even in her own drive way.

Name: Jodi Boam

Born in: Hamilton Ontario Canada

Number of years competing in gymnastics: 11 competitive years!

What level did you make it to? I was a national level gymnast by age 15, and qualified to compete at the World Championships, but unfortunately had to pull out the week of, due to injury!

“I grew up in a tiny village in East Germany. My father was a sports teacher at the local school and I took my first steps on the field. In elementary school I trained under his guidance, and participated successfully in track & field competitions. My exceptionally good genetic potential was obvious, and so since middle school I trained four times a week. I specialized in javelin and discus throw. During my high school time, I played basketball, and so almost every weekend I have been on the road and traveled the whole country either as a player or later as a referee.” MORE

Swiss Female Bodybuilder Jay Fuchs

“Jo has been working and competing in the fitness industry for almost 20 years. Her early interest in the sport of bodybuilding sparked a desire to enter into the gym industry. This led to a successful career in private training (specialising in weight training and nutrition), earning her a reputation as one of New Zealand’s most popular female bodybuilders and trainers.

After joining the highly competitive world of bodybuilding in 1992, Jo has had a chain of national and international successes which span nearly 20 years.
