Rosemary Jennings No Longer Competing

Rosemary Jennings, IFBB Pro Bodybuilder, is not happy about the new regulations from the IFBB looking for smaller, softer looks for bodybuilders and has retired. In a December blog entry, she said:

“One of the reasons why I decided to stop competing is due to the federation changing the judging criteria and are now looking for female body builders to look some what like the ones back in the past and I will be damn if I allow any human being to play with my mind. Its bodybuilding….not fitness or figure or swim suit (whatever that is).”

Rosemary, who often went by Rose, is a dedicated bodybuilder. She has been dedicated to the sport and not the IFBB and has said, “you will still see me around with my big dense muscle.” We will miss Rose on stage but respect her honesty and loyalty to her heart and what she loves. Some love to compete and some love to body build to the height of the definition. Right now the IFBB doesn’t cater to the later and the later is what she loves. This is evident on her website where she shares a quote from her mentor in bodybuilding, Dr. Alfred K. Thomas and The Easton Notion:

“One should not be attached to outcomes , to results but should practice “detachment” in this case with winning, taking pleasure in that which, ultimately, brings one more pleasure”.

Heather Armbrust Biography & Arnold Update

Heather Armbrust is one of the top IFBB Pro Bodybuilders in the game today. She is known best for her amazing legs. On her personal blog on January 15th she officially announced that she would not be competing at the Ms. International saying:

“I am so sorry about this but no I will not be competing in the Ms. I. It took a lot of very difficult thought and added stress but I came to a conclusion to do what is best for me and my family. I put in for my invite in Oct. with every intention of kicking butt and very excited. Dec. came with too many road blocks. Timing was off for me. I had ignored some injuries that were not going to cooperate. I have been fighting the tendinitis in my right arm which is worse than ever lately. I even took several days off due to a hand injury that happened after Christmas. I am very proactive about working on these things but I guess I did not have enough time in between shows to get it handled. My injuries are a work in progress. lol I also want to give some more attention to my family and Dylan. And the gym. Things happen and I’m done beating myself up about it. I want to thank everyone who is supportive of my decision… it means more than you could know! In the mean time. I am going to pursue some alternative things. We are taking Salsa and I want to work on my Spanish. There is never enough time in the day for me but all will work out in the end. Thank you… H”

Iris Kyle Wins 2009 Ms. Olympia

    iris_kyle

Despite some very heated competition from Heather Armbrust, Debi Laszewski and Lisa Aukland, Iris Kyle took home the 2009 Ms. Olympia victory.

The win, Iris Kyle’s 5th, wasn’t just business as usual. Iris was noticeably improved over last year, featuring a tighter waist and better definition. Despite her improvements, some in the crowd thought that Heather Armbrust’s physique had enough to steal the crown. Though not a controversial finished, the 2009 was definitely competitive.

Rounding out the top six were Yaxeni Oriquen-Garcia and Betty Pariso.

Adele Garcia took home the 2009 Fitness Olympia crown, with Tanji Johnson placing second and Tracey Greenwood third.
