Iris Kyle: Sheer Dominance
Olympia 2008 — By Patricia on September 30, 2008 at 6:13 amIris Kyle completely dominated the female bodybuilding division – which is no easy feat as the entire lineup consisted of the best of the best.
In Olympia judging, the lower the score the better and in all 4 rounds Iris recieved 5 points – meaning perfect scores across the board, and was the only Olympia champion to do so of any division. Berry Adkins, Iris’s closest competitor in her division, came out with 62 points.
Take a careful look at the photo below. It’s a photo we “doctored” of the Olympia lineup. Pay special attention to the bodybuilder on the far left….

I get your point, but doctored photos aren’t a good way to prove a point. The proportions and scale are probably off. Unless the camera angle was exact on each shot and there was a guide for height, there is little to say except you Photoshopped it.
Well, yes obviously it’s a photoshop we said that – and actually proportions are not massivley far off, the picture was chosen with that in mind – that is the under 202lbs lineup. Camera angles I just did the best I could really, that was the closest that could be done.
Iris is 5ft 6″ and competes at around 160lbs, which actually isn’t that far off some of those guys, unlike open class where obviously some have 100lbs on her.
The shape, structire and conditioning aspects still hold though IMO.
Neverthless, I just thought it was interesting to see them side by side
Why are those guys in a woman’s sport in the first place ?

I had the great pleasure of being in the audience last Friday night at the Orleans Arena to see Iris Kyle win her (5th)? Ms Olympia………….well deserved. She was in phenomenal shape. But can someone explain to me why Ms Olympia only gets $30,000.00 while Dexter Jackson (Mr Olympia) gets $155,000.00. That’s a really amazing disparity.

What I would like to know is why has all the prestige has been allowed to leave being Ms. Olympia. Champions of other sports are always held in high esteem but it seems like being Ms. Olympia is just an after thought if that. And it’s not just treated that way by main stream media and the sport’s world but even in the bodybuilding world being Ms. Olympia isn’t a big deal. My question is why is that so?
