I am small town girl who grew into the fitness industry by chance, on a dream that was laughed at and doubted by most but never diminished. I grew up in the south, home of fried chicken and pork and beans. I saw magazines and looked at the girls and though wow, but for a long time I never even thought “that could be me.”
The day I began to dream about becoming a part of the fitness industry in a major way is still so fresh in my mind. Approached in the gym by a woman who competed, I was told “man if I started when I was your age, I would be pro by now.” Pro what, I wondered. I did the research and decided I was going to start, and I was going to become a pro in the IFBB. It took years of countless hours in the gym, training my body and mind to work in ways it never had, but in 2006, at Team Universe in NYC, all my hard work paid off. I became an IFBB Professional.
The road to the IFBB was not easy. I knew nothing. To say I learned the hard way is not even the half of it, but it is not the end of it either. I have achieved my dream and made new ones. My journey is to the Olympia. It has been slowed by injury and surgery, but the road continues as do I.

The Problem:
You so often see people stretching before training. While it isn’t wise to force full range of motion on tight muscles, you don’t want to stretch cold muscles…the body is like a french fry (just go with it): when you try to bend a frozen french fry it will snap in two. ...
