Alex Chambers, 30-years-old, will be making history on May 29, 2010. She will be stepping into the cage at Australia’s first, legal, women’s professional cage fight. Australia began a formal regulation of combat sports, which is what cage fighting is considered in Australia, through the Combat Sports Act that took effect January 1, 2008. The State Government supports women’s involvement in these sports and has finally legalized their participation.

Alex has been involved in one type of martial arts or another since she was 8-years-old, but she looks forward to this step in her professional career.

“Being in the cage adds another dimension to fighting,’’ she said. “You can use the cage to help your techniques like pinning your opponent to the cage so you can take them down.’’
