Where Did They Go?

There are so many great bodybuilders who seem to have disappeared from the radar. This came to the forefront while doing the Michele Ralabate piece. It got me thinking…who else has fallen out of our lives? Tina Lockwood came to mind…what an unforgettable physique that women had! She had calves that measured 20″ and muscle bellies that rivaled male bodybuilders.

Tina’s most notable win was her heavyweight and overall win at the 1994 NPC Jan Tana Amateur. After she appeared of the cover of Women’s Physique World Magazine, in 1998, she disappeared from the industry. There is no current information on this landmark athlete, but that doesn’t stop us from loving her physique or sharing it with you.

Who is on your list of “where did they go?”

Leave a comment or send me a private message! Let’s share our favorites with each other and give some recognition where it is due, regardless of their current involvement! Female Muscle will feature each in a future post!

I had the pleasure of knowing Tina a long time ago, but she suddenly disappeared. Rumor says she had some trouble with an attacker and it may have freaked her out. Please, anyone who nows, let us know the story.

Denise didn’t disappear exactly, as she turned evangelical in the 80s and was in the news at the time of her departure from the sport. I don’t know her, but she seems very public spirited, always helping out kids, so she may have followed that path instead of pumping pills.

Though Denise did disappeared from bodybuilding I did hear years ago about her finding God and taking a more spiritual path….seeing that God did bless her with great genetics, and a great physique I believe that he has continued to bless her in many other ways in her life and she has found that in her life…and that seems to have brought her a greater joy & fulfillment in her life than the bodybuilding lime light. God Bless her.

i think the nice looking women have departed, because the sport( if you want to call it that) has been taken over by homely lesbians. am i wrong about that? lets talk folks!!

I think the sport has been “forced” into a “different direction.” Starting when Ms. Olympia was moved to the expo a few years a go, even if it ws just that year…there is little draw for the women to put THAT much work into something that doesnt give them the same energy back…Now, not being a bodybuilder BUT being an IFBB fitness pro, that is just my opinion…

Tina is/was one of the best ever. Karla Nelsen comes to mind. Sandra Benzaquen(who weighed as much as 225 at one point, I think she was 5’4″). Christine Envall

Thought of a few more. Amelia Hernandez, Vivianne Violante, Christina Prinn, Danielle Leroy and the great Bev Francis.
