Viviana Casarubbia: Hard Body, Hot Body

CLICK HERE TO VIEW VIVIANA’S GALLERY< — opens new tab/window

Viviana Casarubbia, Argentina amateur figure competitor, has a lot going on. Recently, she was in a commercial and explains her experience, too bad I can’t understand what she is saying. She has done well in the international competition, but she is a little too hard for the American standard for figure, another reason we love her.

Oksana Grishina at the Arnold 2011

Russian born Oksana Grishina caused a mild touch of controversy when she burst onto the pro fitness scene a while back as her routines were so different from the norm – artistic with a distinct dramatic flair, but decidedly slower then her colleagues. This year in 2011 at the Arnold Sports Festival, they saved Oksana for last, and living up to her reputation her routine was unique but she picked up the pace and blew everyone away. Watch this video of this past weekend(and Oksana, we Love and adore you!):

Rosemary Jennings No Longer Competing

Rosemary Jennings, IFBB Pro Bodybuilder, is not happy about the new regulations from the IFBB looking for smaller, softer looks for bodybuilders and has retired. In a December blog entry, she said:

“One of the reasons why I decided to stop competing is due to the federation changing the judging criteria and are now looking for female body builders to look some what like the ones back in the past and I will be damn if I allow any human being to play with my mind. Its bodybuilding….not fitness or figure or swim suit (whatever that is).”

Rosemary, who often went by Rose, is a dedicated bodybuilder. She has been dedicated to the sport and not the IFBB and has said, “you will still see me around with my big dense muscle.” We will miss Rose on stage but respect her honesty and loyalty to her heart and what she loves. Some love to compete and some love to body build to the height of the definition. Right now the IFBB doesn’t cater to the later and the later is what she loves. This is evident on her website where she shares a quote from her mentor in bodybuilding, Dr. Alfred K. Thomas and The Easton Notion:

“One should not be attached to outcomes , to results but should practice “detachment” in this case with winning, taking pleasure in that which, ultimately, brings one more pleasure”.

Iris Then Or Now

I was looking at a pic of Iris this year and thought how nice she looked, not my favorite suit but she was amazing. Curiosity struck me and I wonder how many others like the “new Iris”? I prefer her hair, make up and think her muscularity looks less rough and more polished.

Fitness At The Arnold Classic

Looking back at last years Ms. International  made us think we should look back at the Ms. International fitness too. This video shows the fitness competitors in the evening show for a confirmation round. The confirmation round is a way for the judges to take one last look and ensure they are happy with their placements.

The two-time Ms. International Fitness, Jen Hendershott, is best known for her amazing routines. It is only right that we look at what has made Jen such a vital part of the sport. She will not be competing tomorrow, but you can me sure she will be in attendance.

Memory Lane: Arnold 2009

In three short days, the mystery of who will be crowned Ms. International will be solved. As we look forward to new routines and an amazing show, it seems fitting that we should look back at the 2009 stage. See each competitor in their mandatory poses and then come together for comparisons. The detail in these video’s and in each competitor are insane. It makes me wonder how these women can possibly continue to improve. I’m not sure I see any flaws!

Heather Armbrust Biography & Arnold Update

Heather Armbrust is one of the top IFBB Pro Bodybuilders in the game today. She is known best for her amazing legs. On her personal blog on January 15th she officially announced that she would not be competing at the Ms. International saying:

“I am so sorry about this but no I will not be competing in the Ms. I. It took a lot of very difficult thought and added stress but I came to a conclusion to do what is best for me and my family. I put in for my invite in Oct. with every intention of kicking butt and very excited. Dec. came with too many road blocks. Timing was off for me. I had ignored some injuries that were not going to cooperate. I have been fighting the tendinitis in my right arm which is worse than ever lately. I even took several days off due to a hand injury that happened after Christmas. I am very proactive about working on these things but I guess I did not have enough time in between shows to get it handled. My injuries are a work in progress. lol I also want to give some more attention to my family and Dylan. And the gym. Things happen and I’m done beating myself up about it. I want to thank everyone who is supportive of my decision… it means more than you could know! In the mean time. I am going to pursue some alternative things. We are taking Salsa and I want to work on my Spanish. There is never enough time in the day for me but all will work out in the end. Thank you… H”

    More about Iris Kyle

    Reprinted from Loribraunblog.com archives

Let us focus on the most amazing woman in the female bodybuilding  world right now, Iris Kyle. I met Iris a few years back when she won her first big show. One look at her and I knew she was a the one, the champ, the star, the only.

She has the most amazingly symmetrical physique that I have ever seen, a worthy rival to Lenda Murray. Iris is totally focused backstage while pumping up. She smiles and flexes, curls massive dumbells and does pushups before going on stage to do her routine. Amazingly, she always has time to stop say hello, flash her lovely smile, pose for the camera, and let me take as many photos and video of her as I would like. Never in a rush, she is just a relaxed and super confident person.

Here are some photos of Iris that I shot backstage during the Arnold 2009 right before she won the show. I know you will enjoy these photos of Iris up close and very personal.
