Abbye “Pudge” Stockton (1917 – 2006) was a professional strongwoman and forerunner of present day female bodybuilders. She competed in powerlifting in the 40′s, and it was estimated that she was featured on the cover of over forty magazines by the end of the 1940s and posed with many of the top male bodybuilders of the time such as John Grimek and Steve Reeves.

I had someone on Twitter recommend that I check out Abbye, but when they did so I Googled Abbey thinking she misspelled the name.
